About Us

South Australian Public Primary Schools (SAPPS) Music Society Ltd.

The South Australian Public Primary Schools (SAPPS) Music Society are custodians of the Primary Schools Festival of Music, a joint venture with the South Australian Department for Education.  For over one hundred and thirty years the society has been responsible for a choral program that has grown to encompass the entire state. Founded in 1891 to organise fundraising concerts in Adelaide with the Public School Decoration Society Concerts, also known as the Thousand Voices Choir, the society now oversees a state-wide program for over 10,000 public primary school students, culminating in a spectacular concert series held every year in one of Adelaide’s most prestigious venues, as well as much loved festivals in regional and outer metropolitan areas. It is an intergenerational experience, with past choir members in the audience proudly watching their children and grandchildren take to the stage.

I have worked in education for over 20 years and currently hold the position of Principal at Pooraka Primary School. I'm highly passionate about education, particularly through the lens of The Arts. I have a personal background in music, completing my own schooling with a specialisation of music, playing the piano and flute.  This year at Pooraka, we have been successful in getting our choir re-established and into the festival for the first time in a while.

I'm very excited to be on the Primary Schools Music Festival Board.

TESTIMONIAL

"The Primary Schools Music Festival has been using Peta and her team for all our promotional and concert photography for several years.

The photographs are stunning! Photographs are taken before, during and after concerts and they capture the excitement, colour and energy of everyone in the theatre.

Peta is ultra organized in every aspect of her work. Taking over 3,000 photos per concert (we have 10 concerts) requires her work to be carefully planned and executed - from the taking of photos, preparing photo albums on her website for families to access and purchase the photos, to the distribution of photos.

If you’re looking for a professional photographer for events, portraits and special occasions, Peta is the photographer you need!"
