The Southern Metro Music Festival (SMMF) is held annually during November.
The SMMF hosts two evening concerts featuring up to 15 schools from the Southern regions of Adelaide from Darlington to Goolwa. The choral repertoire mirrors that of the Adelaide Festival and provides opportunities for public and independent school students in Years 4 - 6.
SMMF invites schools to nominate a troupe for selected sections of the repertoire and register interest in accompanying the choir within a school band program.
We are fortunate to be able to hold a combined rehearsal for students to practice and polish harmonies together before their stage rehearsal and performance in October. Students who are selected for solos, choreography and hosting via audition and have opportunities to further their skills in a group workshop leading up to the performance.
To participate in the SMMF, schools pay an annual participation fee. Each school selects a representative to be part of the committee which generally meets once a term. Meetings help to support teachers and assist with the planning and running of effective workshops, rehearsals and concerts.
Join us in the South and get involved - we'd love to have you!
