Do you love to sing?
Why not speak to your choir teacher if you would like to audition as a soloist for the Festival of Music! This is a wonderful opportunity to sing with a choir of more than 1000 voices and an orchestra!
Soloists
The Solo nomination and selection process happens in Term 2 each year with auditions during school time in Week 6.
This year there are 10 opportunities for students to be a soloist – most of these are singing, one is a rap, and there are two narrators or speaking solos. If you are keen to try out as a soloist, make sure you listen and practise the solo part – with the voice and with just the backing track - aiming for accuracy in pitch and rhythm, and of course knowing the lyrics. We also look for confidence, expression, song understanding and connection to the lyrics, or storytelling – which all contribute to the presentation.
Good luck, we look forward to hearing you!
The number of soloists a school can nominate is directly linked to your school's "on stage" number:
10 students - can nominate for ONE solo
20 students - can nominate for TWO solos
40 students - can nominate for FOUR solos
49+ students - can nominate for SIX solos
Note that each solo part can only be nominated once (e.g. only one student can sing the solo for "A Million Dreams"). A student can only nominate for a maximum of two solos within your allocation.
Nominations Close: Thursday 21 May, 2026
