This year’s commissioned work is The Arts in SA and has been composed by Robyn Habel and Adam Page.
In these songs we celebrate how we are ALL involved in the arts in some way – as the artist, or the audience and how through sharing and engaging with the arts we can ALL take part. These are light-hearted and fun songs, each one with a different vibe, offering a variety of singing and vocal opportunities.
How ‘dull, colourless and boring’ life would be without The Arts!
YOU are our Artists of the future!
The Audience
Words and Music by R. Habel and A. Page.
Piano arrangement by R. Ennis. Orchestral arrangement by A. Page.
When we are on stage we often forget to think about (or even mention) one of the most important elements when it comes to performance, the audience!
How strange would it be if we were singing and playing our hearts out on stage without an audience to listen to us?
We really wanted the audience to feel empowered by this music and so inviting them into the performance by way of a ‘call and response’ section near the end should do this rather nicely! This is referred to as breaking the ‘fourth wall’ – and occurs when performers (you) acknowledge the audience – by speaking to them directly and involving them in the show.
What a cool song! Get the groove, break down the fourth wall, and engage the audience as you sing The Audience TO and WITH the audience!
